IP-Config attend BVCA Growth Company IPOs Summer 2010 Conference, London

As companies are now looking upon an IPO as more of a funding event and a way of raising extra capital in order to increase liquidity and keep on going, rather than a business goal, the theme of this year’s conference organised by the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association focussed on ‘The Next Generation of Wealth Creation’.

Attendees were welcomed with a key note speech from Xavier Rolet, CEO of the London Stock Exchange and a day of panel discussions followed on subjects ranging from investor confidence, to what the outlook for IPOs will be in the next 3 years.  Speakers and panel members included representatives from some of the UK’s major investment institutions including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Legal & General and Investec.

IP-CONFIG RELAUNCH ‘SEND CARDS DIRECT’

A competitor to Moonpig online personalised greetings, ‘Send Cards Direct’ is working with IP-Config to relaunch its innovative platform.

Talks are currently under way with a review of partners, in print, content, publishing and channels to market.  More news will follow in the Autumn.  It is envisaged that a core component of the new offering will make use of latest apps technology.

Between 5,000 and 10,000 apps are downloaded each day according to Google, and the market is rapidly expanding with the purchase of over 3 million iPhones in the UK since 2008 as users take advantage of the convenience and cost efficiencies this new channel offers them.

Following on from the launch of their Fine Foods Services at the end of 2009 which gained them 20 new significant clients, Heal Farm has also been able to build up the business with their new catering service business which provides high quality meat products to a number of prestigious restaurants including The Masons Arms at Knowstone, named as Pub of the Year 2010 in the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs guide.  Others high quality outlets include Tarr Farm Inn in Exmoor and The Royal Oak at Winsford.

Increasing demand for “Always On” mobile device connections available anywhere and at low cost to the user, is placing increasing demands on wireless networks to enhance their coverage and data capacity.  Providing this enhanced coverage and capacity with standard cellular architecture is expensive and inflexible.

Shaped by conversations with global network operators, the Airborne Networks solution supports what they term ‘demand led deployment’.  By giving network operators the flexibility to deploy the most cost-effective mix of wireless standards in a single base station (WiMax, WiFi, 3G Cellular), Airborne Networks are delivering high bandwidth, cost-effective network access as close as possible to the end user, ensuring better quality of service and increased battery life for devices Typically, the WiMax Structured Mesh solution delivers approximately 40% savings per site in urban areas, and up to 80% savings in rural locations, compared to alternative infrastructure options.

Their WiMax Structured Mesh offering includes the Airborne Evolution base station (combined radio transmitter and antenna system) which is small and light enough to be easily fixed to street furniture or disguised as building features and can be deployed with wired or wireless backhaul, eliminating ‘black spots’ in urban environments, and allowing far greater reach in isolated rural settings at significantly less cost than conventional base stations.

The Northumberland is a multi-million pound venue and catering project, the brainchild of Charles Boyd. Drawing on his years of experience as chief executive of Chester Boyd (the catering and event planning service for exclusive London-based venues), Charles Boyd is set to launch his new business venture at Northumberland House, near Trafalgar Square before the end of the year.

Hamilton Boyd will provide the catering and venue services for this magnificent historical venue, which comprises a richly ornamental Italian Ballroom, Old Billiards Room, Jacques Bar and Boyd’s Brasserie. The bar and brasserie will be open to the public this November.
